CSV import and export
The spreadsheet is the real catalogue; shelfref is the index. Export, edit in any spreadsheet, import. The columns never change.
id,label,url,title,text,link1,link2,link3
| id | The ref id. Rows with ids you do not own are ignored. |
|---|---|
| label | Private label, up to 80 characters. |
| url | Redirect target. Empty = card or not set up. |
| title, text | Card title (120) and text (500). |
| link1…link3 | Card links, as Label|https://… or just the URL. |
Export CSV downloads every ref. Import CSV updates the rows whose id is yours and reports how many were updated, ignored or invalid. An import never creates or deletes refs; mint new ones with New ref or the API.
UTF-8, comma-separated, quotes for fields with commas. A file saved from Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets works as is. The header row is matched by name, so column order does not matter.
A tip for collections: keep your own columns in the spreadsheet (author, year, where the file lives) and only paste the shelfref columns into the import file. Or let an agent do the whole thing with the API.
