What shelfref stores, in plain words
A ref is a public, permanent URL that redirects wherever its owner says. This page says exactly what we keep and what we do not. Last updated 2026-10-21.
Visitors who scan a ref
Nothing. A scan is a redirect and nothing else. Public pages set no cookies, load no analytics, and we do not log who visited which ref. Cloudflare, which serves the site, keeps its own short-lived operational logs for the network as a whole; we do not use them to identify visitors.
Owners who sign in
Sign-in is through Google. We store the Google account id, the email address and the display name Google gives us, so you can sign in again and we can tell your refs from everyone else's. We do not receive or store your password, your contacts, or anything else from your Google account.
We store your refs: each id, the private label you gave it, and the target you set, whether a URL or a card. That is the whole database.
The session is a signed cookie on shelfref.com, valid for 30 days, used only to know that you are signed in.
What we never do
- Sell, share or rent any of this to anyone.
- Send you email, except an answer when you write to us.
- Delete a ref. An issued id resolves to its last target forever, even if its owner stops using the service.
Your data, your way out
Export all your refs as CSV from the dashboard at any time. To delete your account, write to hello@shelfref.com: we remove your Google id, email and name, and your refs keep resolving to their last targets, owned by nobody.
