Terms

Terms of service, in plain words

Last updated 2026-10-21. Using shelfref means you agree with these. They are short on purpose.

The service

shelfref gives you refs: short public URLs under shelfref.com/t/ that redirect, or show a card, wherever you set them. You decide the target; we serve the redirect. We may change how the site looks and works, but not the promises below.

What we promise

Plans and payment

What you may not do

Point a ref at malware, phishing, or anything illegal where you or we live; use refs to spam; or try to enumerate, scrape or overload the service. If a ref is used that way we may point it at a notice page instead of its target and close the account. That is the only case in which we override a target, and it is the only exception to "we never touch your refs".

Accounts and API

You sign in with Google and are responsible for what happens under your account, including anything done with API tokens you create. Revoke a token the moment you think it leaked. API calls are rate-limited; limits are published in the docs.

Liability

shelfref is provided as is. We run it carefully, on infrastructure built for uptime, but we do not promise it will be available at every moment, and we are not liable for what a target you chose does. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the last twelve months.

Ending

You can stop using shelfref at any time. We can close an account that breaks these terms. If we ever had to shut the service down we would announce it at least six months ahead and publish what is needed for any other service to take over the redirects.

Who

shelfref is run by Nicolás Badano, Argentina. hello@shelfref.com. These terms are governed by the laws of Argentina.
